Madras Institute of Fashion Technology is one of the well-renowned and pioneer fashion institutes in India. It was established in the millennium year at Chennai with a vision of producing professionally qualified fashion designers to drive the world of fashion towards success.

This University has emerged from the galaxy of institutions initially founded by the great philanthropist and educationist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar during 1950's. Alagappa University was brought into existence by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 with the objective of fostering research, development and dissemination of knowledge in various branches of learning. Alagappa University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India.The University offers education through Regular, Week-end and Collaborative modes. The Bharathiar University was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February, 1982 under the provision of the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras, which was functioning in Coimbatore before 1982 formed the core of the Bharathiar University. In May, 1985 the University received the recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi for the purpose of grants. The University named after the great national poet Subramania Bharathi is enshrined with the motto "Educate to Elevate". In the University, every effort is harnessed to realize his dream of making educational institutions as temple of learning. The Tamil Nadu Open University is the first University in the state to have introduced the credit – based self – learning materials in print as early as 2003. While the round –the-year admission policy with examination schedules conveniently arranged on week – ends and the effective continuous assessment provision have sufficiently addressed the issue of quantity in the form of increasing higher education access, the University has been harnessing the advancements in ICT to continuously improve quality. I am a Designer for Reliance Brand. The Madras Institute of Fashion Technology is a cluster where you find tremendous support for the students by all means. I am basically from rural frontier. Before I join Madras Institute of Fashion Technology, I was a timid and placid person, but then the faculties in Madras Institute of Fashion Technology taught me to be positive in all the way. The classes were lively and interactive which helped me to gain confidence in me. Faculties were very friendly.
I am very glad to be part of Alumni Association of Madras Institute of Fashion Technology. I am an Entrepreneur – Oyil Designer Boutique. We all do things in our unique way and that make us an Achiever. Earn While Learn Curriculum is the uniqueness of MFT. Here the students are encouraged to engage them to earn while studying, which motivated me to get more experience on what I study. Thanks to MFT for its wonderful support.
I am really proud to be an Alumni of MFT. I have completed my B.com then I joined MFT for diploma programme. Now I am working as a Manager for PUMA brand. I got my passion in designing and programming from MFT and now this is my bread and butter. When I first arrived at the college, I was frankly overwhelmed by the amount of assignments, projects and work.
